At First Baptist Church of Milledgeville, Georgia, we are committed to the doctrinal tenets of the historic Christian faith.
We believe there is one God, holy and glorious, who exists as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Jesus, the eternal son of God, is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead.
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, inerrant and accurate in all it records and proclaims.
We believe that Jesus Christ’s death on the cross was the propitiation for our sins, that is, his death satisfied the righteous demands of holy God on our behalf. We are made righteous through him. Due to the nature of this sacrifice, we affirm that Jesus is the only way to heaven.
We believe that we are saved to serve Him through holy living and in obedience to His name by making disciples.
We believe in the literal appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ in His Second Coming, the glorious hope of the church.
We believe the church consists of the redeemed, those who have been born-again. While there are many congregations (local), there is only one church. We affirm the truths of believer’s baptism and of the Lord’s Supper as the two ordinances of the church.
